Resembling giant bacterial growths or coral-like formations, Aisling Hedgecock's sculptural works are constructed from vast numbers of painted micro polystyrene balls.

The intricacy of this process is complemented by the artist's minutely detailed drawings, which equally demonstrate Hedgecock's interest in the evolution of complex, organic-seeming structures.

In more recent works such as The Third Stellation (2011), Hedgecock fuses both aspects of her practice by cutting and folding drawings into sprawling, crystalline forms.
