Although Munich-based painter Benedikt Hipp seems to draw inspiration from a plethora of fellow German artists (Thomas Zipp frequently springs to mind) there's enough individuality and verve in Hipp's work to single him out him as an intriguing new presence.
His compellingly dream-like compositions - typically teutonic fusions of the drab with the decorative - resonate with an insistently personal iconography that's as suggestive as it is evasive. And with several prestigious recent shows now under his belt, international exposure seems almost certainly imminent.
