As yet, young Californian artist Jacob Butts is barely a blip on the art radar, but with luck, we see that changing.

An endearingly individual voice transcends the influences that pepper his output, revealing bitter-sweet narratives of failure, romantic longing and hippy-dippy optimism tempered with humour and astute observation.

Stitching, crocheting, constructing (while clearly enjoying a drink or two): there's a loveable geek aspect to Butts' practice which, despite its overt depiction of an artist at play, can't help but reveal a complex, questing personality.
