Leonor Antunes specialises in a kind of delicate semi-monumentality: her works define and assert while frequently invoking airy, indefinite qualities of negative space.

Hanging installations of bent wire create focal fields of angular tracery, their impact at odds with barely-there physicality. Screens and 'curtains' of burnished, linked metal both reflect light and allow its passage. Traditionally robust materials, such as timber or stone, are converted into structures that simultaneously suggest density and the lightweight.

Antunes' suggestive yet statuesque practice accords well with the work of recent artists such as Tove Storch or Julia Dault whose focus equally involves the subtle questioning of materials and their presence.
